Clear, pure, aromatic and fresh on the nose, as if you were diving deep into the Atlantic, the 2022 Gaisböhl G.C. opens beautifully precise and iodine-infused on the nose that reveals intense but refined ripe peach and raspberry aromas. Very fresh and seriously structured, this is a pure and tensioned but also aromatic yet very precise and savory Riesling with playful acidity and stimulating, classic fruit. This is a gorgeous, persistently saline and tensioned Riesling in a classical style. Tas

Deep and concentrated, the 2019 Pommard 1er Cru La Platière evokes aromas of rose petals, red berries, Indian spices, raw cocoa and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, layered and vibrant, with powdery tannins and lively acids, it's the most elegant young Platière that I've tasted from the domaine.William Kelley, 91-93 Points

Giacomo Conterno Barbera d’Alba ‘Francia’ 2020

Barbera | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

The 2020 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Francia is fabulous. Rich and expansive, with tremendous presence, the 2020 is positively stellar. Super-ripe dark cherry, lavender, spice and pomegranate all gain volume and intensity with time in the glass. The 2020 is one of the finest recent editions of the Francia Barbera I can remember tasting. Today, it's explosive, heady personality is impossible to resist.Antonio Galloni, Vinous 95 Points

Giacomo Conterno Barbera d’Alba ‘Francia’ 2018

Barbera | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

The 2018 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Francia is an explosion of floral, savory and mineral notes. Like the Cerretta, the Francia Barbera is quite delicate in this vintage. It has a bit darker fruit, stronger savory undertones and a touch more depth. It is a beguiling, beautifully layered wine that unfolds graciously over time.Antonio Galloni, Vinous 94 Points

Giovanni Rosso Barolo ‘Serra’ 2021

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

Owned by the Rosso family since 1946, it was replanted in three phases: 1984, 1996 and 2003. La Serra is located about 1km south of the village of Serralunga in the upper part of the Serralunga commune. The 2021 Barolo Serra is soft, supple and inviting, with lovely mid-palate pliancy and soft contours to match. Crushed flowers, rose petal, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and mint are nicely lifted in this tasty, approachable Barolo from Davide Rosso.Antonio Galloni, Vinous 93 Points

This Cru is the jewel in the crown of the Commune of Verduno in Barolo! The 2021 Barolo Monvigliero is a pretty dense wine. I don't see quite the delineation or nuance of the tinest wines in this range or the best wines from this site, which leads me to believe Scavino is still getting a feel for Monvigliero. For many top producers, this would be a superb wine, but in this lineup, it's in the middle of the pack. Macerated cherry, spice, tobacco and cedar struggle to emerge fully. I hope to re

Cogno Barolo ‘Bricco Pernice’ 2017

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

"This is a medium-bodied Nebbiolo from a hot vintage with a ruby-tinged appearance. The 2017 Barolo Ravera Bricco Pernice shows generous inner fiber and richness with dried cherry, blackberry, plum and dark spice. Fruit for this wine comes from a beautiful amphitheater of vines with the perched town of Novello high up on the skyline. I love the especially smooth and soft quality to what is a powerful and lasting wine. "Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate 95 Points

Very ripe liqueur-like aromas of various black berries are nuanced by plenty of spice and floral elements. There is excellent underlying tension to the beautifully textured medium weight flavors that also brim with sappy dry extract and minerality, all wrapped in a bitter pit fruit finale that offers impressive persistence. This is definitely atypical but the intrinsic class of a fine Caillerets is still present. 2032+Allen Meadows, Burghound

The 2015 Granja Remelluri Gran Reserva is a blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha from their estate vineyards. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in barrels of different origins and sizes for 27 to 29 months. The wine shows superb, an undated style of Gran Reserva, using grapes from the three different valleys they have in Remelluri to create their grand vin. It has a classical style, but the oak and the evolution is slower, and the texture shows more of the limestone from the soils. Th

Disgorged June 2023. Complantée comes from a single parcel in Avize that Agrapart co-planted (complantée) with six varieties: Pinot Noir, Meunier, Chardonnay and the heirloom Champagne varieties of Arbane, Petit Meslier and Pinot Blanc. Chardonnay accounts for one-quarter of the blend, with the remainder split equally between the other five varieties. The vines are all in the Fosse vineyard, the same site that gives us the great Vénus cuvée (the name of the specific vineyard parcel w

Benjamin Leroux Nuits Saint Georges 2022

Pinot Noir | Nuits-Saint-Georges, Côte-de-Nuits

This blend of Nuits-Saint-Georges climats includes the village lieu-dit Les Allots and three Premiers Crus: Les Cailles, Aux Thorey and Les Boudots. The lion’s share, however, is drawn from Aux Herbues on the Vosne border and a parcel in the northern part of Fleurières, just south of the town. This year, Les Tuyaux, a stony terroir at the very northern end of the appellation, has joined the party. The 2022 was entirely destemmed. My notes read “Very Ben Leroux” in that it’s a
