Giovanni Rosso Barolo ‘Serra’ 2019

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

Wow! Exceptional drinking. Beautifully weighted incredible mid-palate depth of flavour. Intensity and delicacy, now there's a trick. So fine long. Beautifully developed. More layers than a Mille Feuille. Stunning translucent, complex & beguilling.Owned by the Rosso family since 1946, it was replanted in three phases: 1984, 1996 and 2003. La Serra is located about 1km south of the village of Serralunga in the upper part of the Serralunga commune.Paul Kaan, WINE DECODED Aug 2023

Darker and a little more brooding than the Savigny 1er. Opening beautifully in the glass with impressive mid-palate weight. Flowing and fanning out. Again, impeccably resolved and layered wine. Deftly handled stalk use yielding lovely spices and a hint of musk. Delicious drinking.Paul Kaan, Wine DecodedThe 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Les Cents Vignes bursts with aromas of plummy fruit, sweet spices and crushed mint, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and charming palate that's meltin

“One of the more muscular, powerful wines in the range this year is the 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Les Tuvilains, a medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated red redolent of dark berries, cherries and plums.”William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 91-93 Points“Unlike other cuvées, the 2022 Beaune Tuvilains 1er Cru was completely de-stemmed, although it gives the impression that a few stems are 'in the mix.' The palate is very well-balanced, with a patina of new oak that needs to be subs

Domaine Marc Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 2022

Chardonnay | France, Burgundy

The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Village has pleasing mineralité on the nose, almost making it worthy of a Premier Cru. It is very finely focused, with touches of hazelnut emerging with time. The palate is very well-balanced, with fine tension and poise. Not amazingly complex, yet it delivers in terms of purity and precision. Drink this over the next decade.Neal Martin, Vinous 89-91 PointsAromas of crisp stone fruit, white flowers and bread dough preface the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet V

Clemens Busch Riesling Marienburg 1er Grosses-Gewächs 'Fahrlay' RESERVE 2022
DRY
The Marienburg Fahrlay 2022 >reserve<, as it is referred to on the central part of the label, displays a superbly fresh and precise nose of lemon, candied grapefruit, minty herbs, greengage, spearmint, bergamot, lavender, lime tree, and jasmine. The wine is gorgeously focused and energetic on the palate, where plenty of spices and zesty elements make for an incredible focus. The finish is vibrating, with intense flavors of lime and grapefruit zest. This splendid dry Riesling has no mark

Nervi-Conterno Gattinara 2020

Nebbiolo | Italy, Gattinara

Historically these wines have had Amazing transparency, sophistication shining though. Alto Piemonte saw another productive vintage in 2020 with no significant hail or frost events. It was a warm year with well-timed rains and a harvest that started early, but not excessively so. Early indications are of a strong set of wines.Looking forward to trying this when it hits the warehouse. Grab a set Conterno's Sensory Glasses to swirl it around in too!The 2020 Gattinara is elegant and lif

Domaine Jean-Marc et Thomas Bouley Volnay 2019

Pinot Noir | Volnay, Burgundy

Aromas of raspberries and plums mingled with hints of orange rind, sweet spices and forest floor introduce Bouley's 2019 Volnay Village, a medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless wine that's lively and penetrating, concluding with a long, saline finish. As I've written before, this cuvée blends the rich, clay soils of lieux-dits Poisots, Famines and Cros Martin with the thinner, whiter soils of Ez Blanches above the Clos de Chênes; but in 2019, the wine's tone is set by Ez Blanches, even if

'Reduction masks everything but subtle floral nuances. More interesting are the notably finer and more mineral-driven middle weight flavors that possess both a lovely texture and underlying tension while delivering fine length on the youthfully austere finale. This too is an excellent Gevrey villages that is firm enough to reward a decade of keeping.' Drink 2030+ Outstanding ♥Allen Meadows, Burghound 90-92 Points

Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino 2018

Sangiovese | Tuscany, Italy

The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is a spice box, bursting from the glass with a tour de force of cloves, cinnamon sticks, mint, lavender, dried strawberries and freshly sliced vanilla bean. For all of its extroverted character on the nose, this is a delicate beauty on the palate, cool-toned and finessed, with violet-tinged red berries and exotic spice motivated by brisk acidity. It conveys a pleasant staining of fine tannins that lingers long, yet the character is only lightly structured and tape

Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino 2018

Sangiovese | Tuscany, Italy

The Fuligni 2018 Brunello di Montalcino stands out for its smooth integration of aromas and the carefully balanced intensity achieved here, which shows momentum but also remains very fine and nuanced. There are many sides to the bouquet with wild fruit, cassis, crushed stone, candied orange and fresh herbs or rosemary. A floral note also appears that suggests rose or iris root. The tannins are very well managed and silky. You hardly feel them, yet the wine offers firm structure throughout. This

With its decidedly green and spicy bouquet, the 2022 Pecorino is impossible to ignore. Lime zest and tropical melon give way to crushed Granny Smith apples and chamomile aromas. This is beautifully balanced, fruit-centric and intense. Silken waves of citrus-infused orchard fruits cascade beneath an air of sweet inner florals. The 2022 leaves the palate completely refreshed, tapering off long and youthfully tense, with a hint of salinity that adds lovely punctuation. Fantastic. Drink 2024-202

Rounder, plusher than the 2016. A lovely differentiation between vintage that still sees the qualities of clearly very fine house at play. None of the reduction Meadows noted on first release is present now. A little more time is needed for this to show it’s full colours at the moment. A little more savoury with the same fruit energy at play. As seems to be the case for the Domaine there is a harmony that you don’t always see in Burgundy. Superb drinking.
