Robert Weil Rheingau Riesling Trocken 2020

Riesling | Rheingau, Germany

On a spectrum of boldest to most elegant, Riesling in the Rheingau sits in the middle for me, making cracking dry Rizza with plenty of tension whilst have the balance to produce superb off-dry to sweet wines. The 2020 Rheingau adds incredible depth and length for an entry-level wine. Citrus perfume, white flowers, a little sulphur on open. Give it a decant. Lovely line and length. Fine sherbet acid. Excellent level of phenolics cleaning the palate beautifully. Acid soaks up the sugar. Lime, z

Robert Weil Kiedricher Riesling Trocken 2020

Riesling | Rheingau, Germany

This is stunning. The wines of the Rheingau sit closer to the wines of the Rheinhessen than those of the Mosel or Pfalz. Weil’s in particular have a richness. This has such an intoxicating perfume. It really draws you in. So much going on here. As with all good German Rizza it has that elevage that even on release has it looking in divine shape. So fine long and divine. Dry Riesling of this standard is such an incredible pleasure to devour. Layered, yes rich, yes fine long and divine. Every sn

“From the oldest, up to 50-year-old vines of the estate and cultivated on partly reddish phyllite soils in altitudes up to 300 meters, the 2020 Kiedrich Klosterberg Riesling Trocken was aged on the full lees until late July for the first time (instead of April, like in the former vintages). This brings a remarkable, delicate, subtle and articulated, very elegant and flinty, almost Mosel-like Riesling bouquet of bright fruit aromas (mango, passion fruit) intertwined with notes of crushed iron a

Delicious again their seems to be a lift in the flow shape and texture, elegance and refinement here for Weil. Stunning wine. Richness and delicacy. Chalky acid phenolic complex. Fine elegant delicious. Fine acid. Perfumed white flowers. Power of fruit with weightlessness. Soft acid. The most exceptional lime cordial fruit.  More delicacy and white flowers. Each of these wines would stand beautifully on its own.  “The 2021 Kiedrich Turmberg Riesling Trocken is pure and coolish on the

"The 2019 Kiedrich Turmberg Riesling Auslese is precise and flinty on the nose that displays very fine raisin and honey aromas, spiced with notes of crushed slate. Charmingly round and elegant on the refined palate, this is a salty-piquant and stimulating Auslese with remarkable grip and finesse. A

Highly refined and elegant on the palate, this is a salty-piquant, fresh, vital and energetic Gräfenberg with a long, piquant and salty finish. Very young but really fascinating in its brilliance, piquancy and salinity” Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate

A bold Spatlese showing the ripeness of the Rheingau over the moselle. Rich and vinous, ripe apricot kernel, musk and spice with a phenolic sweep playing beautifully with the acid and sugar to reveal a cleansing finish. Complex and fine a beautiful Spätlese.  The 2021 Kiedrich Gräfenberg Riesling Spätlese offers an intense, almost raisiny but also fresh and flinty bouquet with concentrated and candied fruit aromas. Rich and lush on the palate, with stimulating salinity and piquancy, t

Taut and complex, apricot stone, crisp pear, lemon – yet ultimately more savoury spice than ripe fruit. Lifting ethereal elements of pine needles, nutmeg and white pepper. Defined shoulders and tensile power, with a shockingly fine and elegant grip. Cool and considered on the long, lingering finish. Don't let the outer calm fool you, this is not a Riesling to be trifled with. Nor to be touched for another few years.”  JancisRobinson.com 18+ Points “The 2021 Kiedrich Gräfenberg
