Hail decimate many of the great vineyards including Brunate. Those who selected carefully made classic Nebbiolo. 2014 Perbacco is a great barometer of this!

I’ve been devouring Nerello Mascelese wines as fast as I can over the last few years!
Passopisciaro is always up at the top of the list!

There is no doubt that knowledgeable Brunello fans consider Il Marroneto to be one of the top dozen or so estates in Montalcino today – Ian D’Agata

“THE 2013 RISERVAS ARE OFF THE CHARTS” Antonio Galloni. A rare opportunity to try the best Crus from across Barbaresco, and, explore the diversity of personalities in the wines of the region, from feminine, and, perfumed, to brooding and structured.

Château de Beaucastel along with Vieux Télégraphe ‘La Crau’ was one of the 1st great Châteauneuf’s I tried. The wines are beautiful, sophisticated & layered with delicious flavours!

Wide-spread frosts wiped out crops in many villages & vineyards leaving others untouched. Working through the wines Leroux certainly seems more comfortable in the Côtes de Beaune. His whites show more harmony and refinement than his reds.

Massimiliano’s wisdom transfers to his intriguing, personality filled wines. His wines are some of the most together, expressive and individual reds from Etna I’ve seen to date!

Finally I got to taste Paolo Scavino’s Cru Baroli, the results: sophisticated, harmonious, beautifully textured wines of individuality and with a great core of fruit.
My daughters were born in 2012 & 2015 … both excellent wine years! Naturally the collection of birth year wines has been growing. Finally 2012 ‘Il Poggio’ has hit the decks & a stash is now firmly locked away in my cellar!

When it comes to Brunello producers, these two along with Biondi-Santi, Banfi, Soldera & a select few others consistently take it to the next level! As much as I detest scores when you see 100 points for a wine it’s worth a moment of pause before you move on.

Reading Roagna’s manifesto with my Vigneron’s cap on, it’s clear that they are driven to achieve excellence

If I were to name the best Burgundy I’d drunk, Clos de la Roche from Domaine Ponsot would be near the top of the list.
