R.Pouillon 'Les Chataignieres' Extra Brut 2015
The Fabrice Session 🎧 & 🎥 Inside!

R.Pouillon ‘Les Chataignieres’ Extra Brut 2015

Blend | Vallée de la Marne, Champagne

Hanging to do a side by side with Pouillon's Meunier and Prévost's. To excellent makers two different styles! 100% Pinot Meunier from a site in Fesigny. My Note from the 2012:Like all of Pouillon's wines, this is superb. Fine, delicious, so together with incredible harmony. Not as Oxy as Prévost's, it still has an oxidative note. The core of fruit is there, easily carrying it. Excellent vinosity, pure, fine, long red berry fruits. The texture dances across your palate. Beautifully lay

Luigi Pira Barolo ‘Vigna Rionda’ 2017

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Italy

In recent times, Vigna Rionda gets spoken about as the grand cru of the Langhe – altitude, exposure and soil profile play an integral part. As expected, this is Giampaolo’s flagship wine. The oak regime is similar to the ‘Marenca’ but with a larger portion of newer oak – around 30%. Ultra-powerful and layered in fragrances, flavours and textures. Smoke, graphite, incense, stock/porcini, sweet tobacco, violets. All this character is underpinned by a fierce, tingling acid line and a comp

Vincent Dauvissat Chablis 2019

Chardonnay | France, Burgundy

Here too there is very fine typicity with its ripe but cool nose of white peach, pear, iodine and pretty floral nuances that also include a whiff of citrus confit. There is equally fine volume to the rich yet well-detailed flavors that flash a lovely mineral streak on the refreshingly dry finale. Good stuff in a robust and powerful style that should repay mid-term aging. Drink 2025+ ♥ OutstandingAllen Meadows, Burghound
Benjamin Leroux Pommard 2020
Pommad - From the Pommard Master!

Benjamin Leroux Pommard 2020

Pinot Noir | Pommard, Côte du Beaune

Given his experience in Pommard, home turf, if he'll have handle on any fruit this will be it! As with last year, this is a blend of Les Vaumuriens (high on the slope) and Les Cras (on the lower slope), both vineyards lying on the Volnay side of the village. Leroux notes the cooler, hillside fruit from Les Vaumuriens brings freshness and balance to the blend. This was crafted from 100% de-stemmed berries and raised with roughly 20% new oak. We have very little.“The village Pommard is a suc

Vincent Dauvissat Chablis 2020

Chardonnay | France, Burgundy

A more restrained but equally fresh nose features notes of green fruit, oyster shell and lemon-lime wisps along with a very subtle dollop of menthol. There is excellent intensity to the sleek, detailed and delicious medium-weight flavors that terminate in a clean, dry and sneaky long finish. Excellent quality here for its level. Domaine SC Guillard Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux 2021

Pinot Noir | Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy

‘Les Corbeaux’ is bordered one side by the Grand Cru Mazis Chambertin! Takes me to a very happy place! ‘Les Corbeaux’ is bordered one side by the Grand Cru Mazis Chambertin and the other by the village of Gevrey.Deep crimson lovely fresh red fruited hints of florals and a touch of new oak, really detailed and transparent, lively, lithe and intriguing. Palate is quite structured as we expect from les Corbeaux, sappy tightly knit tannins but with a quite expansive mid palate juicy and

Moderate wood and menthol can be found on the aromas of violet, red currant and plum. There is excellent density to the velvety and sappy textured flavors that manage to maintain very good precision on the overtly stony, powerful and youthfully austere finale. As is typical for this wine, it’s going to need every bit of a decade to reach its apogee. Drink 2031+Allen Meadows, Burghound 91-93 Points ♥ Outstanding

Weingut Nikolaihof Ried Steiner Hund Riesling 2017

Riesling | Niederösterreich, Austria

Under a thin layer of humus, the vine roots dig deep in the hard, primary rock and bring forth extremely balanced wines with pronounced mineral character and refined elegance."The 2017 Riesling Steiner Hund, formerly called Reserve, was grown in Stein on terraced, stony vineyards across the Danube, and is thus labeled Neiderosterreich. Subtle peach and straw on the nose have the slightest floral overtone. Concentrated, buffered and intense, the palate is vivid, with lemony, waxy, yeasty

Artuke ‘La Condenada’ Rioja Tinto 2022

Red Blend | Spain, Alavesa

Trying 2021 ‘La Conenada’s’ brother 'El Escolladero'  along with a few other wines from the Artuke range was enough to convince me to grab a couple of boxes. I've not looked back. The 2022 'La Condenada is a little more tightly coiled with a chalky acid profile needing time to resolve. Excellent transparency through an elegant fruit profile of fine red fruits with sold depth and length. Opening in the glass beautifully, building mid-palate weight and length with a fantail finish. Quinta do Noval Vintage Port 2019
One of my Fav's!

Quinta do Noval Vintage Port 2019

Port | Portugal, Douro

As always this 100% single-quinta wine is drawn from Noval’s own vines. There are three core parcels, all near the winery—the terraces directly surrounding the winery in Pinhão, the vines in the Roncão Valley and a parcel overlooking the Douro River.  Each year, the blending proportions for the Vintage Port will vary depending on the vagaries of the vineyard."This is well defined on the nose, with dusky black fruit laced with graphite and clove [and] hints of liquorice, eucalyptus

Stunning. Beautiful perfume such a divine fragrance that leaps out of the glass. Excellent energy. Zesty fine acid, the texture here is exceptional. There is often a misconception that wines from Pommard are brutish, structured and will need decoded to even be approachable. Like most things in life, mass generalisation does no one any favours. Although this undoubtedly has much much more to give with time it is divine with super fine tannins now!Layered and complex with perfumed persistant f
