Antoniotti Bramaterra 2016

Red Blend | Italy, Alto Piemonte

The Alto is sharing its gems with us! Antoniotti's Bramaterra is a stunner. A blend of 70% Nebbiolo, 20% Croatina, 7% Vespolina & 3 % Bonarda, it just keeps giving, sniff after sniff offering up something new and special, layered, earthy, savoury, a little pine resin, spice, blue fruits and more. A richness of fruit, that I suspect is fortified by the Coratina and Vespolica, yet freshness rests beautifully in a cradle of suitably edgy Neb tannin that has you salivating for more!If this

Rainoldi Nebbiolo Brut Rosé 2018

Rosé | Valtellina, Inferno

First released in 1980! Cracking 'Metodo Classico' fizz from Valtellina! I've had some solid sparkling Nebbiolo from Piedmont before. None quite like this! When this was poured for me I had no expectations and ended up having a WOW! moment.Made from Chiavennasca 92% A.K.A Nebbiolo, Pignola 4%, Rossola 4%.Excellent texture and mousse, light salmon colour with a red fruit down the raspberry line, superb acid, balancing alow dose. Very sophisticated. A play of light woody herbs, rose, fa

La Ca’ Növa Barbaresco 2021

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

The 2021 Barbaresco is exquisite. Bright and delineated, with tons of energy, the 2021 bristles with saline-infused energy. Red berry fruit, blood orange, chalk, mint and white pepper lend tons of energy to this deceptively mid-weight, nervy young Barbaresco. Vineyard sites are Ovello, Cole and Loreto.Antonio Galloni, Vinous 94 Points

Boasso Barolo ‘Margheria’ 2016

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

Cru Margheria at this price is unheard of! As you climb the Boasso hierarchy the structure builds. Amping up the edge on the tannin with a resinous finish. Yeah, the tannins are old school, the fruit, however, is contempary, fresh, and energetic. Lovely red fruits which like the Commune are made to look a little darker with the Tea and Tar. Definitely a lift in depth and length of fruit. The tannins will need some time to resolve and come into balance. Where the Commune sits fruit vs tannin is a

Fletcher Barbaresco ‘Recta Pete’ 2021

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

An Aussie in Piedmont! Dave Fletcher's Barbaresco is turning heads in Australia & Italy! FYI - Recta Pete translates to Shoot Straight. Dave has a deft touch making sophisticated wine with fine bone and a delicious core of fruit. He's quickly established respect in the region through is work making the wine at Cerretto and his efforts establishing his own venture. The wines always show great restraint and harmony.By all accounts Dave's done it again in 2018. Can't wait to get my laughing gea

What a wonderful exploration of Trebbiano the wines of Ciavolich, Tiberio and Emidio Pepe. On the continuum Tiberio is the freshest with least oxidative handling, Ciavolich is in the middle and Emidio Pepe has the full beans! All are delightful expression and all that is left for us to do is enjoy and celebrate the difference.Aged in amphore Ciavolich's Trebbiano d'Abruzzo 'Fosso Cancelli' has a core of quality fruit that easily handles the oxidative winemaking, whilst still being laced by a

Our Barbera d'Alba Superiore is made from Barbera grapes grown on our own vineyards. These vineyards are planted on Helvetian soil, which lends structure and elegance, enhanced by approximately one year of aging in wood. The color is an intense ruby red, tending towards violet and purple. On the nose, it offers vinous aromas of red and black fruits such as cherry, plum, and blackberry. The palate is full and robust, with a pleasant flavor of typical red and black fruits and a pleasant sensation

Fascinating Pecorini. A little skin contact yields a lick of burnt match that sits nicely as a complexing line over complex fruits with citrus oils. Nicely developed its an example of a textural Pecorino. That will please those after a less funky pecorino than Pepe’s and a much more textural complete it cuts a fine balance between the full blown styles and the fresh precise ones. A lot to love here. Will hand a huge diversity of foods.Paul Kaan, Wine Decoded Feb 2026The 2021 Pecori

18 months élévage shows in a complete lovely fine expressive, complex Chardonnay. The shift from tasting the Chablis of Bernard Defaix to Côte du Chalonaise wines of Jaeger-Defaix sees an immediate feel of opulence. No bâtonage old oak 100% malo. Again calm and harmonious. Les Cloux remains the tighter and more linear of the Domaine's two Premier Cru whites. Clearly rounder across the palate than the Chablis whilst maintaining clarity and complexity. Here the wood treatment is more su

Rounder, fuller and richer than the Les Cloux a bolder interpretation of Rully. Soft plush and generous, yet still not heavy. A little broader across the back palate though tightening as it finishes. A great set of flavours. A comforting Chardonnay that envelops you. As seems typical of the two Domaines of the family there is a good deal of complexity.A subtle but not imperceptible application of wood sets off the cool and airy blend of white orchard fruit, citrus confit and a hint of cr

Moreau-Naudet Petit Chablis 2022

Chardonnay | France, Burgundy

Not all Petit Chablis is created equal! Moreau’s Petit Chablis comes from a single 2.5-hectare site between Courgis and Beine, just outside Chablis on the route to Auxerre. It has a southwest orientation and lies on Kimmeridgian soils (as opposed to the higher Portlandian soils on which most Petit is grown). Half of the plot is home to 25- to 30-year-old vines, while the other half is somewhat older at 45 to 50.The wine ferments spontaneously in large vats of 32 to 100 hectolitres. This re

L’Aietta Rosso di Montalcino 2022

Sangiovese | Tuscany, Italy

About L’Aietta – The Artist L’Aietta started in 2001, when I was still in high school. I discovered that the place where I had been going on Sundays with my family and friends to have picnics and barbecues, that had not only olive trees and a few vines, but these vines (more or less 1000 square […]
