Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva 'Montestefano' MAGNUM 2019
KO 99 AG 95
The 2019 Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano is perhaps the most complete of the 2019 Riservas at this stage. It offers fine depth, plenty of tannin and nascent emerging inner sweetness to tie it all together. A wine of stature and textural depth, the Montestefano is my early favorite in this lineup.Antonio Galloni, Vinous 95 Points KO 99*NOTE Galloni tasted in Sept 2023 noting his intent to look at the PdB Riservas in 12 months expecting they will resolve and shift up. Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva 'Rabajà' MAGNUM 2019
KO 97 AG 94
The 2019 Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà  is redolent of dark fruit, crushed rocks, graphite, sage, menthol and lavender all race across the palate, supported by bracing, young Rabajà tannins that make themselves felt. This mid-weight, powerhouse Barbaresco packs quite a punch.Antonio Galloni, Vinous 94 Points KO 97*NOTE Galloni tasted in Sept 2023 noting his intent to look at the PdB Riservas in 12 months expecting they will resolve and shift up. Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva 'Ovello' MAGNUM 2019
KO 96 AG 94
The 2019 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello is powerful, savory and intensely linear, in classico Ovello style, and yet it appears to have enough fruit behind its imposing tannins to develop well over the coming years. In this tasting, the Ovello feels pretty closed post bottling, but its inherent balance and qualities are there. Clean saline notes extend the finish in promising fashion.Antonio Galloni, Vinous 94 Points KO 96*NOTE Galloni tasted in Sept 2023 noting his intent to look at the P

THIS IS EPIC! Vigna Rionda is responsible for some of the most singular and divine Barolo made. Intoxicating dark, earthy perfumes match seamlessly with wonderful flavours, and, divine textures making for heart-racing drinking! It's for this reason that the unique wines of Vigna Rionda are considered more than just wine from Serralunga, but, Barolo from Vigna Rionda!Only a handful of Poderi Oddero's Barolo Riserva 'Vigna Rionda' make it into the country! The 2012 was release late 2021 a

Figli Luigi Oddero ‘Vigna Rionda’ Riserva Barolo 2015

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

Listening to Matt Large who's just back from his annual trek for vintage at Luigi Oddero with Francesco Versio I learnt so much about Vigna Rionda. Like Burgundy and Cannubi, there's Vigna Rionda and then there's Vigna Rionda! Oddero is the original. South South-East facing sandwiched between Giovanni Rosso's Ester Canale and Poderi Oddero's parcel on lean helvetian soils high in mineral content and at elevation have offered up divine fruit. The 2015 shows the structured tannins of Serralunga

The Wehlener Auslese had everything. The 2022er Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese has a beautifully engaging and captivating nose of fresh herbs, white mint, bergamot, yellow flowers, pineapple, candied grapefruit, smoke, and juniper. The wine has great presence and is still on the sweeter side on the palate, where ripe yellow and slightly honeyed fruits with a touch of exotic presence come through. The finish is slightly broader yet captivating and hugely long. The aftertaste shows candied gr

Domaine Nicole Lamarche ‘Echezeaux’ Grand Cru 2018

Pinot Noir | Vosne-Romanée, France

Sometimes when your vineyard is surround that's OK especially when it's surrounded by DRC! I've had the pleasure of drinking La Grande Rue a couple of times. It's the benchmark wine of the estate that sits across a tiny laneway from LaTâche. La Grande Rue is sensual, feminine, with an incredible perfume, and silky texture. A special wine indeed.Vosne-Romanée tensd to be a bit of mixed bag of the haves and have nots. Lamarche is a have!Nicole, François' daughter has been in charge of t

"Here too moderate reduction renders the nose difficult to assess. The relatively delicate and refined middle weight flavors possess no lack of punch that carries over to the youthfully austere, complex and sneaky long finish that is quite tightly wound so patience advised." The Godfather of the Saar makes truly special wine deserving of the title. AP: 03 22. The 2021er Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett is a barely fruity-styled wine with a bright white-yellow color and a stunningly pure nose of white peach, citrusy fruits, white flowers, smoke, and a subtle dash of whipped cream. The wine proves stunningly vibrant on the almost off-dry tasting palate and leaves great notes of fresh herbs and spices in the long finish. Vietti Barolo ‘Brunate’ 2017

Nebbiolo | La Morra, Italy

The 2017 Barolo Brunate is a powerful, brooding wine. Huge dark fruit, leather, spice, menthol and dried herbs all build in a potent Barolo that is enshrouded by tannins. The 2017 is going to need quite a bit of time in the cellar. Today, it is very much a brooding powerhouse. Dark wild cherry, licorice, tar, menthol and spice take shape in the glass, but the 2017 is clearly an infant, and an unruly one at that. Drink 2025 - 2042 Galloni
