Moulin de la Gardette ‘Tradition’ 2019

Rhône Blend | Southern Rhône, France

Jean-Baptiste Meunier's Gigondas wines, from the land where Grenache is King, have an intensity and flavour that are distinctly their own. Moulin de la Gardette sits firmly in Gigondas' 1st Division.Seriously good. So pure, precise and energetic. Incredible tannins, fine silky mouth coating, the shape so poised and long. Again the counterplay of red energy with darkness. More baked rhubarb, delicacy in the baking spice, harmony here. A little woody herb. These are wines of presence. Oh so so

Cogno Barolo ‘Cascina Nuova’ 2018

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

"Floral aromas of rose and iris mingle with red berry and tilled earth on this perfumed red. Elegantly structured, the vibrant palate offers juicy red cherry, crushed raspberry and star anise before a savory, almost salty finish. Taut, refined tannins and bright acidity keep it balanced. Drink through 2030."Kerin O'Keefe

Lovely wine, beautifully made harmonious, long fine layered, of great complexity, softer acid profile, yet plenty of acid, a textural feat! Excellent development.Citrus and pith, with a good phenolic textural play. Nicely balanced, on a lower perceived acid bent for the region. Chalky feel. Plenty of fun. Subtle leesy funk, with great clarity.Fauchaume has a number of Lieux Dits that you'll see on the label: Vaulorent, Fontenay, Vaupulan amongst them.

Fascinating! Savoury licorice root and lanolin. Incredible intensity. So beautifully weighted, flowing & rich yet transparent. Beautifully integrated acid. Musk roses. Entrancing wine. Such presence yet delicacy. Very very good, such complexity and energy in the fruit.Paul Kaan, WINE DECODED Sept 2025The 2021 Fogar Do Castriño is a characterful and unusual Albariño that matured in a used chestnut barrel for 24 months and a further 15 months in bottle. The wine has a light golde

The 2020 Fogar Do Castriño feels more civilized, matured in a used chestnut barrel, and the notes from the wood feel subtler than in the 2019 when they had to use a new barrel. After the good experience with A Graña, they went for a chestnut barrel that they feel marks less than the oak and respects more the character of the Albariño grape. This feels balanced and vibrant, with pungent acidity and marked flavors, citrus freshness and great length. This is one of the wines that shows the ver

White Cap - Dry "The lime-green-golden 2019 Bernkasteler Lay Auslese ** (White Capsule) is deep, intense and concentrated yet elegant and still precise and flinty on the nose. The attack on the palate is stunningly young and vital before the elegant and crystalline wine reveals its complexity and inner power. This is a tightly structured, very digestible and still edgy Auslese that needs another 5-6 years or so to settle and shine. This 2019 is enormously salty on the finish and highly promising

Vajra Barolo 'Albe' 2020
🇮🇹A Vajra Classic 🍷

Vajra Barolo ‘Albe’ 2020

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo (sub-region)

You can't beat this value. The G.D. Vajra 2020 Barolo Albe is buttoned up with fresh primary fruit, and the wine does not have that hint of over-ripeness that is found across this vintage. The fruit is dark and savory, and there is a big mineral component to match, but the bouquet is nicely redolent of dark currant, plum, granite and a raspy dry note that brings crushed shale to mind. The tannins are quite impactful, and they give this wine extra runway for moderate bottle aging.Monica Larne

Albino Rocca Barbaresco 2021

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

Excellent drinking for the coin. Beautifully balanced. Wonderful tannins, mineral with a light dusting of layered ripe tannins. Core of fruit is superb. Epically drinkable. Long slatey, slightly tarry edge. Hint of spice. Such a refreshing delicious drink. Long, complete, layered and harmonious.Paul Kaan, Wine DecodedThe Albino Rocca 2021 Barbaresco is a big surprise. This wine is fresh and bright, showing enormous focus and purity on the bouquet. There is impressive complexity too w

I thought Bouland, Thivin & Foillard were good! Superb Morgon. Jean-Marc’s Cote du Py is a cracker. So what do you get for coin when you head to the ‘James’? The answer … extra layers. Extra layers of flavour, layers of tannin. Yes, it’s bolder than the 2019 Cote du Py, yet it retains an elegance of fruit. The extra year has seen it relax a little, still tight though. It will reward you with time. 3 years will make an incredible difference. 5 more, although it’s hard not to resist ta

Domaine Faiveley Mercurey 1er Cru Clos de Myglands Monopole 2021
Hard to beat for the $
Give it a couple of days open or a few years in bottle and you'll go to a happy place. Reviews yet to come. Kelley's note below is of the 2020. Along with the Le Clos du Roy this represents one of the best value Burgundies on the market. As I wrote earlier this year, Faiveley's 2019 Mercurey 1er Cru Clos des Myglands is a success, delivering aromas of sweet berry fruit, plums, espresso roast and spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with powdery tannins and lively acids, it's a

From Ravera in Monforte. As the vines age they will make Barolo! From Ravera in Monforte, this is made from the youngest vines (that will eventually be made as Barolo) and is made the same way as her three Barolos and then aged in barriques for twelve months. As a baby Barolo, this has some serious pedigree with rich, plush fruit of red berries with crushed flowers. Hard to beat for the money and an ‘affordable’ cellaring option.**Due Sept 2025**
