André Clouet Dream Vintage 2016

Chardonnay | Champagne

This 2016 Dream Vintage sits proud next to the divine 1911 & V6. Made with 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay it is an enigma for a Champagne house dominated by Pinot Noir from Bouzy. As the name implies it is only made in the best years. As always, Jean François Clouet has created a complete Champagne harnessing time to yield a beautifully developed bottle of fizz adding richness and generosity to a linear, mineral backbone of Chardonnay. I get the feeling there is a lot more than meets the eye

Higher elevation and shift in soil offer a more vertical and mineral style.Xarel-Lo’s gentle bitterness is a perfect balancing agent where acid may be more prominent in Champagne, a lacing of phenolics and elegant bitterness work beautifully in Recaredo’s Corpinnats.Again the oxidative bruised apple and Vino di Pasto cereal flavours come out to play with green leafy herbs. There’s loads of energy and tension as fragrant and perfumed notes come out to play. Beautifully textured

Barale Barbaresco ‘Serraboella’ 2021

Nebbiolo | Neive, Barbaresco

Super vibrant and energetic with long even fruit of class and a little perfume Feels like a little more precision here in the 2021. Savoury with a lick of blood. Classy fruit an excellent wine. Refined tannins. Opens and settles beautifully in the glass. Very, very good.Tasted from cask, Barale's 2021 Barbaresco Serraboella is bold, juicy and quite expressive. I imagine more nuance will develop in time. At this early stage, the 2021 possesses notable depth and plenty of textural intensit

Notes of oak toast and menthol surround the moderately high-toned aromas of red and dark cherry, plum and warm earth. There is terrific intensity to the vibrant, intense and well-detailed medium weight flavors that also brim with minerality on the even more compact, austere and firmly constituted finale. The quality is excellent though I underscore that this is presently a block of stone and it would be largely pointless to open a bottle before at least 7 to 8 years have passed. Dinrk: 2034+ ♥

A domaine wine composed of <40% Butteaux plus some Forêts and Montmains proper in roughly equal amounts.Consisting of roughly equal parts Montmains, Butteaux and Forêts (the three sous-climats of Montmains), the 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains offers up aromas of crisp green apple, white flowers, bee pollen and oyster shell. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, it’s taut and precise, concluding with a saline finish. Drink: 2023 - 2045William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

From a huge 3.5 ha holding that is composed by <75% Vaillons proper with the remainder from Roncières, Mélinots and Châtains. Here too there is a vague suggestion of the exotic on the slightly riper aromas of pear compote, ocean spray, iodine and wet stone. The rich, vibrant and palate coating flavors are also supported by bright acidity that carries over to the wonderfully long, youthfully austere and firm finale. Dureuil’s village Rully is drawn from three organically managed plots—Le Meix Cadot, Rosey and Montagne de Remenot—which cover just under three hectares in total. The average age of these vines is now 50 years. Janthial uses a Jayer-esque pre-ferment cold soak to extract the prettiest aromas and softer tannin. Touchstone Rully.

The 2022 Rully Village is a blend of four lieux-dits with vines planted between 2006 and 1920. The slightly waxy, apple blossom-scented bouquet only gradually opens in the glass. Fine delineation. The palate is well-balanced with a sapid entry, very energetic and citrus-fresh with orange cordial and nectarine notes towards the focused, playful finish. This will be impossible to resist once in bottle (like usual).Neal Martin, Vinous 90-92 Points

Cascina Luisin Barabaresco ‘Asili’ 2016

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

The fruit for this wine comes from the mostly south-facing aspect of the Asili cru, with an average vine age of 55 years. The winemaking is similar to the other Barbarescos. This is perhaps the most compelling of the Luisin Barbarescos, with a textbook Nebbiolo red colour and an intriguing bouquet of so many elements that all come together in harmony. Classic varietal characters of liquorice root, rose petal and anise, alongside brighter fruit aromas of pomegranate, cherry and raspberry, with
