Bougros sits on a very steep slope, with a gradient of more than 30%, facing due south at the foot of the hill. The shallow soil, a mixture of clay and gravel, prevents excessive yields resulting in complex, robust wines.Note: from a 2.2 ha parcel at the bottom section of the vineyard; even so, the vineyard is so steep here that it must be worked entirely by hand as tractors would be dangerous to use.In a sense, the 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Côte Bouguerots offers a resumé of

Auguste Clape Cornas ‘Renaissance’ 2020

Shiraz/Syrah | Rhône Valley, Cornas

I tasted two components that will make up the bulk of the 2020 Cornas Renaissance, both still in foudre. From Patou and 15- to 20-year-old vines, a medium to full-bodied sample featuring mentholated red plum notes, chewy tannins and mouthwatering acids (90 - 92). From Reynard and 30-year-old vines, a medium to full-bodied sample that showed more cassis fruit, silky tannins and great freshness (93 - 95). They should make a lovely Cornas for drinking over the next 10-15 years. Joe Czerwinski, The

“The 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Pertuisots is performing especially well this year, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cherries, wild berries and plums mingled with rose petals, sweet spices and burning embers. Medium to full-bodied, deep and seamless, it's layered and complete, with a lively core of fruit and beautifully refined, powdery tannins.”William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 92-94 Points“The 2022 Beaune Pertuisots 1er Cru, which contains 27% whole bunches, has such a pretty n

“The 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes is pure and ethereal, wafting from the glass with scents of raspberries, rose petals, spices, blood orange and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, ample and suave, with lively acids, melting tannins and a saline finish, it's a lovely rendition of this first-rate hillside terroir.”William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 91-93 Points

Massolino “Parussi” Barolo 2021

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Castiglione Falletto

On the crest of the ridge, Parussi sits right next to the Serralunga border on the Castiglione Falletto side. The blue, iron-rich Sant'Agata marls here are a little lighter and more oxygenated, with more silt and less clay than in Serralunga. This makes for more vigour in the vines and a completely different style of wine.A divine perfume of faded flowers, expressive and so long. Incredibly even long tannin, nutty. Heading to a riper cherry flavour profile again with the energy for typic

Massolino “Parafada” Barolo 2021

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

Planted in 1957, Parafada was the Massolino family’s first prime parcel in Serralunga. It is still home to their oldest vines. Legend has it that Giovanni Massolino planted these vines when he was just 17 years old! Today these 69-year-old vines produce smaller berries with more concentrated fruit as a result. Located between Gabutti and Lazzarito, Massolino’s 1.2-hectare parcel rises steeply from 300 to 340 metres above sea level and faces due south, catching the full face of the sun. The a

Massolino “Margheria” Barolo 2021

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

The Margheria vineyard is one of Serralunga’s most important and illustrious sites. The Massolino family bought their first parcel here in 1964, and the remainder came online during the ’70s. The current holding is 1.5 hectares. Sitting at 280 metres above sea level, Margheria is a very chalky vineyard with a good percentage of sand (which brings elegance), while the high calcium carbonate content brings vibrant, mineral energy to the natural depth of Serralunga.Of the 3 Cru's Massol

R.Pouillon ‘Les Blanchiens’ Brut Nature 2013

Blend | Vallée de la Marne, Champagne

Notes on the 2012:This is superb. So fine and delicious. Such harmony is not common, the Pinot and Chardonnay are playing together beautifully. It has just the right level of oxidative vinosity, so well supported by a core of fruit that has great length and depth. I keep coming back the the harmony, layers of complexity and balance. Will the Pinot seems to be the dominant, as would be expected in the front and mid-palate, the line and length from the Chardonnay and the mineral nature to this

Luigi Pira Barolo ‘Vigna Rionda’ 2020

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

In recent times, Vigna Rionda gets spoken about as the grand cru of the Langhe – altitude, exposure and soil profile play an integral part. As expected, this is Giampaolo’s flagship wine. The oak regime is similar to the ‘Marenca’ but with a larger portion of newer oak – around 30%. Ultra-powerful and layered in fragrances, flavours and textures. Smoke, graphite, incense, stock/porcini, sweet tobacco, violets. All this character is underpinned by a fierce, tingling acid line and a comp

“The 2022 Meursault Les Chevalières has only partially completed its malolactic fermentation and may be bottled like that. Mingling aromas of crisp orchard fruit and white flowers with toasted nuts and struck match, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and racy, with tangy acids and a long, saline finish.” William Kelly, The Wine Advocate 90-92 Points“Composed and refined, the nose offers touches of walnut and apple blossom. I appreciate the harmony here. The palate is understandably

Domaine Henri Germain Meursault ‘Limozin’ 2022

Chardonnay | Meursault, Burgundy

“Another wine that has only partially completed its malolactic fermentation is the 2022 Meursault Le Limozin, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy wine that's broader and more voluminous than the taut Chevalières. Offering up reductive aromas of pear, hazelnuts and iodine, it concludes with a long, mouthwatering finish.” William Kelly, The Wine Advocate 91-93 Points

These vines recently joined the Domaine, a gift from Marc-Antonin’s parents. They lie in a sub-section of Morgeot called Champs Jendreau, just downhill from Clos de La Boudriotte, not far from the village.
