The single-vineyard red 2021 Camino de Ribas comes from a plot, La Cóncova, under the Toloño peak close to Rivas de Tereso, a hamlet from San Vicente de la Sonsierra, possibly the coolest zone, with a north-facing exposure, a place with shallow soils with sand, limestone and sandstone and full of aromatic herbs. It's a blend of 50% Tempranillo, 40% Garnacha and the rest Viura, Jaen, Garnacha Blanca, Palomino and other white varieties. It fermented with a long and soft vinification with some wh

Gorelli Brunello di Montalcino 2019

Sangiovese | Tuscany, Italy

Gorelli's 2018 put them on them firmly on our radar! If that's what they can do in 2018 imagine how the 2019 will drink! Brunello di Montalcino comes in a vast array of guises from the super bold structured ones with oak (not my cuppa), the dark rich yet mid-weight with a line of substantial yet refined tannins, & the perfumed, poised, delicate Brunellos with plush fine tannins. At this, Burgundian end, we see Poggio di Sotto and Soldera. Today we add one more to that list Gorelli. It's not

Bass Phillip Premium Pinot Noir 2023

Pinot Noir | Victoria, Australia

"Full bodied, ripe and rich, with tannins seemingly layered and fine grained, the spicy oak a support act, concentrated and deep yet there’s such freshness and vibrancy within thanks to the acidity. The palate builds, the finish lingers and you hope someone pours you another glass. Beautifully poised yet will garner more complexity in time."Jane Faulkner, Wine Companion 95 Points

Luigi Pira Barolo ‘Vigna Rionda’ 2021

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

In recent times, Vigna Rionda gets spoken about as the grand cru of the Langhe – altitude, exposure and soil profile play an integral part.As expected, this is Giampaolo’s flagship wine. The oak regime is similar to the ‘Marenca’ but with a larger portion of newer oak – around 30%.Ultra-powerful and layered in fragrances, flavours and textures. Smoke, graphite, incense, stock/porcini, sweet tobacco, violets. All this character is underpinned by a fierce, tingling acid line and

“A high point of the range is the 2019 Pommard 1er Cru Les Croix Noires, a terrific wine that unfurls in the glass with complex aromas of raspberries, plums, raw cocoa, sweet spices, licorice and grilled squab. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it's deep and multidimensional, with melting tannins and lively acids, concluding with a long, expansive finish.” William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 94 Points JM 92-94

'The 2018 Barolo Monvigliero is broad, ample and so expressive, all while showing the finesse and classicism that are such a signature of this wine. All elements are so well balanced in a Barolo that speaks to harmony above all else. Sweet red cherry, cedar, orange peel, tobacco and cinnamon give the 2018 tons of aromatic presence. Best of all, the 2018 will drink well with minimal cellaring. It's a gorgeous wine in every way.'Antonio Galloni, Vinous 95 Points

“The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Mont des Oiseaux 1er Cru offers dark cherries, hints of peppermint and spice on its quite extravagant nose. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy dark berry fruit, good volume here, fine acidity, hints of white pepper and sage furnishing the composed finish.”Neal Martin, Vinous 89-91 Points

This possesses the most floral-suffused nose in the range with its pretty liqueur-like aromas of various red berries, soft earth and a hint of crushed anise. There is excellent volume to the caressing and seductively textured flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the youthfully austere, firm and compact finale. Like the Caillerets, this needs more depth so at least some patience is in order.Allen Meadows, Burghound 90-92 Points

This is the replanted portion of Vigna Rionda, stil too young to be worthy of the Barolo classification. The 2019 was awarded 98 Points by the Wine Doctor.Crafted by Davide Rosso and Andrea Delpiano from their Serralunga d’Alba estate vineyards. The purity of expression of nebbiolo is breathtaking, and while many of us will find it challenging to wait, these are wines of considerable ageing potential.

A perfumed and exceptionally pretty, elegant and pure nose speaks of wafting essence of red berries, especially cherry, along with exotic spice and floral wisps. I very much like the texture of the beautifully refined middleweight flavors that exude a fine bead of minerality on the bitter pit fruit-inflected finish that displays excellent length. This could use better depth but that should only be a matter of patience. 2034+ ♥ Sweet spot OutstandingAllen Meadows, Burghound  (91-94) Point
