Readers will know that I tend to prefer Bouley’s Fremiers to his Rugiens, but in this vintage, it appears to be the brilliant 2020 Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens Hauts that’s the king of the cellar. The 2022 Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens Hauts is exquisite, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet wild berries mingled with peonies, rose petals, blood orange and spices. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, it's concentrated and mineral, its cool and lively core of fruit framed by very fine, powdery tannins, concluding with a long, perfumed finish.
