Maison Dieu is the name of an actual lieu-dit situated in Pommard but Violot chooses to employ the term cuvée anyway; in the period prior to 1937 this well-situated parcel was declared as Pommard rather than Bourgogne“Ripe aromas of red berries, plum and plenty of earth lead to voluminous and very rich middle weight flavors that possess a seductive texture before concluding in a clean, refreshing and only mildly rustic finale.” Burghound

Stunning. Beautiful perfume such a divine fragrance that leaps out of the glass. Excellent energy. Zesty fine acid, the texture here is exceptional. There is often a misconception that wines from Pommard are brutish, structured and will need decoded to even be approachable. Like most things in life, mass generalisation does no one any favours. A mildly toasty nose is comprised by notes of red and dark cherry, raspberry and newly turned earth. The rich and caressing medium weight flavors are at once succulent but powerful while delivering fine length on the decidedly firm but not really austere finale. A brooding and still very primary nose offers up liqueur-like notes of dark cherry, raspberry, anise and a hint of wood. There is excellent verve to the utterly delicious flavors that also possess excellent delineation before concluding in a mineral-laden and sneaky long finale.
