Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Rouge 2022

Pinot Noir | Santenay, Beaune

This year's blend includes Bourgogne-level fruit from Leroux’s key sources: the excellent Maison Dieu in Pommard, Mon Poulain in Volnay and Les Belles Côtes in Meursault. In 2022, these sites are complemented by village wines from Monthélie. Leroux opted to use whole-bunch fermentation only on the homegrown components. Maturation took place in 2,200-litre Grenier oak casks. As always, this punches way above its weight division. So crunchy and pure, yet with depth, it’s loaded with gr

“A touch of green tea is present on the cool and airy aromas of red currant and red pinot fruit. There is both excellent vibrancy and detail to the dusty lighter weight flavors that retain good cut on the solidly complex and persistent finish. This inviting effort should drink well early but also with 5 to 8 years of bottle age.” Allen Meadows, Burghound 87-90 Points JM 90-92

Domaine des Croix Beaune Rouge 2022

Pinot Noir | France, Beaune

A stunning introduction to Domaine des Croix. The first time tasting David Croix's wines for me. The Beaune village shows the energy and freshness true across the range. Expressive and composed with a sense of harmony.Red fruits with refined even tannins flowing across the palate. Slightly, slatey tannins. A lovely spice and a gentle grip from stalk use. Superb at this level, even and long. Delicious drinking.Paul Kaan, Wine Decoded“The 2022 Beaune Village has turned out nicel

“This is also cool and airy with perfumed notes of various red berries and a hint of exotic spice nuances that include jasmine and fennel. The racy and very well-detailed medium weight flavors possess an attractive mid-palate texture while delivering good length on the youthfully austere, balanced and reasonably complex finale. This should easily repay 7 to 10 years of keeping yet be approachable after only 3 to 4 years of bottle aging.” ♥ Outstanding Allen Meadows, Burghound 89-91 Points

“Aromas of sweet berry fruit, warm spices, forest floor and raw cocoa preface the 2019 Beaune Les Epenottes, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and structured wine that's quite tightly wound, with fine concentration, lively acids and ripe tannins that assert themselves on the finish. This will require a bit of patience, but its track record for aging with grace is excellent.” William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 90+ Points JM 90-92

Four years after its release, Bouchard's 1er Teurons is drinking beautifully. It's in a lovely space. Fully resolved, a wonderful array of complex aromas lift from the glass, leaning toward the earthy, fine shroom, savoury, darker fruited side of the spectrum. A very subtle layer of oak complementing the fruit beautifully. It's both intriguing and enticing. A soft, plush mouthfeel with delicate tannins and modest acidity offers generosity and comfort. Lot's of fun and great value for the coin.

"An overtly floral and spice-suffused nose is a bit more deeply pitched with mostly notes of poached plum and black cherry liqueur. There is better vibrancy to the precise and attractively textured medium-bodied flavors that display fine length on the dusty, even chalky, and youthfully austere finish that is notably firmer. Fine quality here."Allen Meadows, Burghound 90-92 Points

Here's an example of elegance and sophistication. Bouchard is honouring its birthplace, Beaune, in style. Bright, energetic, a wonderful perfume entices. Beautifully weight flavours match wonderfully fine tannins. Burghound's notes on release almost 4 years ago see the complexity he expected to develop present now. A triumph at a very modest price compared to many others.Paul Kaan, WINE DECODED Sept 2025Aromas of spiced plum, black cherry and a touch of warm earth are trimmed in admi

Darker and a little more brooding than the Savigny 1er. Opening beautifully in the glass with impressive mid-palate weight. Flowing and fanning out. Again, impeccably resolved and layered wine. Deftly handled stalk use yielding lovely spices and a hint of musk. Delicious drinking.Paul Kaan, Wine DecodedThe 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Les Cents Vignes bursts with aromas of plummy fruit, sweet spices and crushed mint, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and charming palate that's meltin

“One of the more muscular, powerful wines in the range this year is the 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Les Tuvilains, a medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated red redolent of dark berries, cherries and plums.”William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 91-93 Points“Unlike other cuvées, the 2022 Beaune Tuvilains 1er Cru was completely de-stemmed, although it gives the impression that a few stems are 'in the mix.' This is aromatically more complex but also more reserved with its nose of warm earth, poached plum, violet and softly sauvage nuances. There is good power and punch, if only average density, to the muscular and lightly stony medium weight flavors that display excellent length on the more youthfully austere finale. Excellent development potential here. (from a 1.26 ha holding; 50% whole clusters) 2032+Allen Meadows, Burghound (91-94) Points

The chardonnay vines are at mid slope, which ripens early so the white Beaune Grèves has to be picked among the very first. Pale colour with a light green tint. Ripen rapidly so pick early. A lean and lively bouquet, attractive fresh fruit, quite nuanced, good acidity and quite persistent. Misses the mid palate volume which a red Beaune Grèves might have, but is attractive nonetheless.
