Challenge 1 – Opening a 50 year old bottle of Red!

You got to choose from 3 wines!

1970 Penfolds St Henri
1970 Penfolds Bin 128 Coonawarra Claret
1971 Calon-Segur Saint-Estephe

The Votes were in and you chose the 1971 Calon-Segur!

Ended up being a fun drink. I finished the bottle. Reminded me in weight, acid profile and development of the 1999 Ar.Pe.Pe Pietrosso from Valtellina. Thirst quenching with loads of complexity and still a sweet core of fruit. Robert Parker’s 65 out of 100 was a bit harsh me thinks. In context it was an elegant Claret, true to the styles made in the 1970’s, not, an oaked up blockbuster, like the wines Parker made his name on!

We showed you how we handle the bottle, prep it to be opened & removed the cork in 1 piece!

We’ll be doing loads of these including:

Sessions tasting wines with international winemakers.
Demonstrating tips and tricks for handling wine to get the most out of them.
We’ll run the Wine Decoded Tasting Revolution live.
Ask Me Anything Session & More!
