Tasted this with Pietro Oddero @ WINE DECODED HQ, Nov 2022 I keep saying drink more than 1 wine at a time, you'll accelerate your appreciation for the best gear and drink better sooner. Tasted next to the 2017 with Pietro to share his reflections of both years and vines. Once again we're seeing the adage producer, producer, producer win. Two very different vintages 2017 warm, 2018 cool with disease pressure, hail events and beyond. Oddero's Barolo from both vintages are excellent wines and

Nebbiolo | Castiglione Falletto, Italy

Rocche di Castiglione has to be one of my favourite Crus. The wines have incredible harmony, they are just so complete. I haven't had the chance to try this. I have devoured the 2017 Villero from just around the corner. Given Oddero's consistency through their range I'd say you're in for very safe bet here! The 2017 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is a beautiful wine that captures the natural intensity of the year while maintaining the style of the site. Silky aromatic and wonderfully nua

Oddero Dolcetto d’Alba 2022

Dolcetto | Piedmont, Barolo

Oddero have balanced the development of their Dolcetto beautifully. An excellent rendition of Dolcetto - complex with crunch and refined tannins. A little darkness, perfume spice and beyond. The texture and work to get through this through puberty is clear. Complete and delicious. I explored the reductive and raw nature of lesser Dolcetto wines with Pietro in our discussion below.

Nebbiolo | La Morra, Italy

Give it the requisite air time & it reveals all! Given the Oddero style and the commune of La Morra this has all the ingredients need to be an impressive wine, and it is just that. Before I got my head fully around the tannin complex in the Poderi Oddero wines I cracked one of these and thought, shit, that's a bit OTT, just on the tannin side. A third of the bottle coravined out and 1 month later I chucked the rest in a decanter. The transformation blew my mind. All had resolved and harmonised t

A great way to introduce both Nebbiolo & Poderi Oddero to your MOUTH! Tasted this with Pietro Oddero @ WINE DECODED HQ, Nov 2022 This is not meant to be a baby Barolo, it will pants many a Barolo! As has been the case with every vintage of this wine I've drunk so far, it has a wonderful perfumed, energetic red fruits and excellent flow across the palate. One of the biggest differences between vintages tends to be the tannins and the texture. The 2020 plush and fine. Try this over a few days!

Right up there with their Vigna Rionda! 14.5%, this is more translucent, more transparent than the Barolo Classico. A strikingly perfumed soft strawberry, dried rose & cherry stone nose. The palate is finer, silkier and more ethereal, with a defining consistency of texture, sapidity and vitality. Castiglione Falletto’s calcareous chiseled features, but elegant and pretty as hell.
