Benjamin Leroux Gevrey-Chambertin 2021

Pinot Noir | Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte-de-Nuits

The 2021 Gevrey hails from 50-year-old vines in Les Seuvrées (bordering Morey) and the northern, limestone-rich La Justice and Les Crais. Some old vines in Les Jeunes Rois and fruit from Champerrier and En Champs (each on the Brochon side of the appellation), complete the picture. His Shiraz Mataro is delicious, more ethereal than the straight Shiraz, with some structure evident from the Mataro. There's a lif

Hints of cedar and flowery undergrowth come forward over time to complete the expression. It’s silky in feel and energetic with mineral-laced, ripe red berries, spice and inner florals motivated by juicy acids. Licorice and a sweet and sour twang of wild berries linger, along with a gentle coating of fine tannin that is only felt towa

“The 2019 Moulin-à-Vent Vieilles Vignes is attractive, bursting with aromas of cherries, sweet berry fruit, rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and lively, it's deep and layered, framed by powdery tannins and bright acids. This has turned out well.” William Kelly, The Wine Advocate
