This is delicious, rounder generosity that San Lorenzo offers is there yet again there is a delicacy and harmony. Very together, lovely fine acid and depth of tannin here. Still in the red fruited spectrum there is an excellent presence about this. 12 ha between 700 and 800m altitude, some 100-year old bush-vines, some new plantings which have been self-propagated from the old ones . The soil is a younger layer of volcanic rock approximately 2,500 years old on Giuseppe's area . San Lo

There’s a little something savoury in the mix, the tannins here whilst more pronounced are not at all in the way. Like the rest Arina and San Lorenzo this is an example of putting the fruit first. A little darker in flavours than the San Lorenzo. Yet not dramatically so. A large cru in the appellation, at around 650m, but Giuseppe has a very special parcel less than than 1 ha in size, with 100+-year-old bush vines. Dark mature profound fruit, balsamic notes, and velvety tannins as the

“Pure mid yellow. Soft fruit on the nose. Lean with lemons and lime but enough volume of fruit with a salivatory fresh acidity behind, and very good length.” Jasper Morris 90-93 Points

I've yet to taste the 2018 Bricco San Michele. Given the quality of the Cavallina and Pitasso from 2018 I expect it will be delicious! I trusted friend in the know has devoured one and given it the thumbs up! Note for the 2021: Textural with clever use of oxidative handling to build intrigue whilst maintaining a core of vibrant fruit and mineral acidity. Citrus zest and oils with pears and a little candied ginger. White flowers dance over the top with a little savoury hit. Flowing and lus

Layers of concentrated fruit and a refined texture this is a superb effort full of personality! Very deep color. The is more new oak here to be seen of first impressions that elevate the overall complexity and class of the aromas, it is amply carried by the depth of fruit, wild strawberry, black cherry, blackberry and plum with a brooding background. Domaine Thibert Pouilly-Fuissé ‘Les Cras’ 2018

Chardonnay | Pouilly-Fuisse, France

To be labelled 1er Cru from the 2020 Vintage! “Bursting with aromas of orange oil, confit citrus, freshly baked bread, peaches and buttery pastry, the 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Cras is medium to full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, with racy acid and a taut, incisive profile. Concluding with a penetrating, intensely mineral finish, it's one of the most serious wines in the range. 2025 - 2035” William Kelley 93+ Points, Burghound 90-93 ♥ Sweet Spot Outstanding

To be labelled 1er Cru from the 2020 Vintage! “The 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé Vignes Blanches is terrific, delivering aromas of peach, orange oil and confit citrus complemented by hints of buttered popcorn and iodine. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and textural, with an ample core of fruit, racy acids and a long, electric finish, it transcends the vintage." The name translates to 'Return to Earth'. Trying this next to the other non-amphora wines, I wonder what impact fermenting in these clary vessels has. While it appears a little more developed. Kelley’s note is on the money. I feel like the chalky texture may be derived to some degree from the amphora. Without trying a control it’s impossible to say. Much pleasure to be had here with the very fresh marmalade notes, flowers and beyond. Transparent and delicate. Guillemot-Michel makes Chardo

Monteraponi ‘Baron’ Ugo’ Chianti Classico 2017

Red Blend | Tuscany, Chianti Classico

Seriously just watch the videos! The wines are as good as the setting in which they are made! I just want to go stay there and drink their Chianti! The 2017 Chianti Classico Baron'Ugo is a dark, potent wine. A rush of aromas and flavors hits the palate as this full-bodied, heady Chianti Classico offers its substantial richness and pure power. A wine of density and volume, the 2017 screams with character. Red cherry, spice, mint and blood orange saturate the palate. In 2017, warm, dry weather pus

The 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Les Lys is also especially good this year, delivering aromas of white flowers, citrus oil, freshly baked bread and bee pollen. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with a fleshy core of fruit and racy girdling acids, this cool, marl-rich site has evidently excelled in 2020. Pavelot's Top wine rates as one of the few remaining bargains in Burgundy! Delicious. Energy, length & depth, fine even velvety tannins. A little musk, red and darker berry fruits. Nice bit of baking spice, roast beetroot / blood, savoury with a whiff of graphite, together, fun, excellent drinking. A delicacy wrapping a little power. Love the line and length. Great harmony and expression. Plenty more to come from this with time. Also available as a Magnum!

Giuseppe Cortese Barbaresco Rabajà 2018

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

🍇RABAJÀ RABAJÀ RABAJÀ 🇮🇹 There’s a thread through Cortese’s wines of being well composed. The Rabajà sees a jump in sophistication depth and length. It’s such a pretty poised wine. Excellent acid balance and slatey tannins of quality and length. The aroma and flavour of Cortese Rabajà have a certain harmony to them that draws you in. There’s a lot to like here. The perfume is intoxicating. It’s the purity and translucence that shines in Cortese’s wines. Expressive for i

Fascinating tasting this with Burghound's note and next to a 2020 Guillard 'Reniard' from Gevrey-Chambertin. The villages of Savigny-lès-Beaune and Chorey-lès-Beaune tend to show the sunshine a little more compared to those both further south and north. Dark and clearly ripe, Pavelot has maintained energy and vitality. The tannins build to a crescendo along the palate balancing the richness with a fine acid. The shape and flow are generous, yet linear with that quality tannin and persistent fr

Eric et Joël Durand Cornas ‘Empreintes’ 2020

Shiraz/Syrah | Rhône Valley, Cornas

Building to show a step up in depth and length. A lick of cleverly used, integrated oak hiding behind the fruit will disappear completely with a little more time in bottle. The tannins show an edge more grip than the Premises in a good way. A bolder iteration with fruit driving the full length of the palate. A little mocha and orange peel with a pop of licorice on that same graphite mineral feel. This merits a decant when young. The 2020 Cornas Empreintes is slightly minty and herbal up f
