Borgogno Barolo ‘Cannubi’ DOCG 2016

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

"The 2016 Barolo Cannubi is the first Borgogno Barolo made from organically farmed vineyards, which represents a pretty significant shift here. Bright and beautifully lifted in the glass, the Cannubi is so expressive today. Succulent red berry fruit, spice, blood orange, rose petal and star anise build as this sensual, open-knit Barolo shows off its allure, which is considerable." Galloni, Vinous

Barale Barolo ‘Cannubi’ 2015

Nebbiolo | Italy, Barolo

Cannubi to the core! Savoury, dark, brooding, rich aroma with a hint of chocolate. You expect power from the nose. It comes through on the palate. Bold even tannins sit under a solid core of fruit that despite it’s generosity and richness has an elegance to itt. Something savoury layered in. Quite complete. I expect as the tannins resolve a little here and secondary development build this will be quite something. It has a certain harmony about it that rings true of great wines.

E. Pira (Chiara Boschis) Barolo ‘Via Nuova’ 2019

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

This one's an argument for blending sites! The 2017 Barolo Via Nuova is a blend of seven plots from Barolo, Monforte & Serralunga! This one’s an argument for blending sites! The 2018 Barolo Via Nuova is an organic blend of fruit from six MGA sites: Terlo and Liste (in Barolo), Ravera di Monforte and Mosconi (in Monforte d’Alba) and Gabutti and Baudana (in Serralunga d’Alba). The 2019 Barolo Via Nova is another gorgeous wine in this tasting. Soaring and broad in its aromatic intensi

Margherita Otto ‘M8’ Barolo 2019

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

This one's another argument for blending sites! From a disciple of Maria Theresa Mascarello! Manly worked with Sandrone, Cavallotto and Altare before an extended stint with Maria-Therese Mascarello. When you look at these wineries the diversity of practices they employ, it makes for an exception foundation of experience to launch your own label as Alan did in 2015.  From what I've tasted thus far it's only a matter of time before these wines reach the cult status of his peers.

E. Pira (Chiara Boschis) Barolo ‘Cannubi’ 2018

Nebbiolo | Barolo (sub-region), Italy

This is such a fabulous expression of Cannubi. What a wine! The E. Pira e Figli - Chiara Boschis 2018 Barolo Cannubi is a lovely wine with a classic playlist of true Nebbiolo aromas. This certified organic wine exhibits wild berry, rose, dried lilac and an earthy touch of white truffle. However, the floral aromas and the lifted fruit are the protagonists in this balanced expression. Chiara farms less than one hectare (just over 6,000 square meters) in the celebrated Cannubi MGA with ancient calc

This is such a fabulous expression of Cannubi. What a wine! The 2019 Barolo Cannubi is flat-out stunning. Rich and beautifully textured, the 2019 dazzles from start to finish. Freshly cut flowers, mint, crushed red berry fruit, orange peel, salt and dried herbs are some of the many notes that grace this exquisite, wonderfully nuanced Barolo from Chiara Boschis. Sweet floral and spice overtones build into the finish. The precision here is unreal. Aging in cask works so well here. What a wine!

Vietti Barolo ‘Cerequio’ 2018

Nebbiolo | Barolo (sub-region), Italy

The 2018 Barolo Cerequio is a new wine in this range. Soaring aromatics and bright, red-toned fruit give the Cerequio its effusive personality. Nuanced and deep, with tremendous complexity and tons of character, the Cerequio is dazzling. This is everything a great Barolo from Cerequio should be. In other words: textbook. More over, it's one of the best wines of this very uneven vintage. Drink 2028 - 2048 Galloni

E. Pira (Chiara Boschis) Barolo ‘Cannubi’ MAGNUM 2017

Nebbiolo | Barolo (sub-region), Italy

This is such a fabulous expression of Cannubi. What a wine! The Barolo Cannubi is absolutely gorgeous in 2017. Hot and brutally dry conditions notwithstanding, the Cannubi is creamy and sensual in the glass, with impeccable balance, soft, racy edges and tons of allure. It is easily one of the most sensual, compelling Barolos of the year. Ripe dark red/purplish fruit, spice, mint and cedar meld into the beautifully textured, resonant finish. I am so impressed with the wine's freshness. Perhaps th

Margherita Otto ‘M8’ Barolo MAGNUM 2018

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Italy

This one's another argument for blending sites! From a disciple of Maria Theresa Mascarello. The 2018 M8 is a blend of Castiglione Falletto, Monforte & Serralunga fruit! "Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Lifted, perfumed red fruit of great appeal with complex, minty oak notes. A mouthful of juicy cherry fruit with supple acidity and fantastic, crunchy tannins. Freshness and bite combined with elegance. Hugely appealing." Walter Speller, Jancis

Luciano Sandrone Barolo ‘Vite Talin’ 2015

Nebbiolo | Barolo (sub-region), Italy

There are some perks to the job! Got to try the newest edition to Sandrone's list of Barolo, the Riserva 'Vite Talin'. 30 years in the making and it's quite some wine! Such a special wine. Unforuntately, there was not an opportunity to try the 2015. It's a Barolo vintage I am fond of. Reviews are below. My notes of the 2013: Intoxicating nose. Such a complete perfume, the incredible core of fruit is wrapped in truffles, earth & forest floor. The richness, depth, and, length a matched
