André Clouet Dream Vintage 2014

Chardonnay | Champagne

This 2014 Dream Vintage sits proud next to the divine 1911 & V6. Made with 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay it is an enigma for a Champagne house dominated by Pinot Noir from Bouzy. As the name implies it is only made in the best years. Made only from Chardonnay grapes from the oldest vines of the champagne estate. The Blanc de Blancs presents itself on the nose with intense aromas of white stone fruits, paired with a refreshing citrus note, which make the champagne feel crystal clear. On the pa

Higher elevation and shift in soil offer a more vertical and mineral style. Xarel-Lo’s gentle bitterness is a perfect balancing agent where acid may be more prominent in Champagne, a lacing of phenolics and elegant bitterness work beautifully in Recaredo’s Corpinnats. Again the oxidative bruised apple and Vino di Pasto cereal flavours come out to play with green leafy herbs. There’s loads of energy and tension as fragrant and perfumed notes come out to play. Notes of oak toast and menthol surround the moderately high-toned aromas of red and dark cherry, plum and warm earth. There is terrific intensity to the vibrant, intense and well-detailed medium weight flavors that also brim with minerality on the even more compact, austere and firmly constituted finale. The quality is excellent though I underscore that this is presently a block of stone and it would be largely pointless to open a bottle before at least 7 to 8 years have passed. Dinrk: 2034+ ♥

A domaine wine composed of <40% Butteaux plus some Forêts and Montmains proper in roughly equal amounts. Consisting of roughly equal parts Montmains, Butteaux and Forêts (the three sous-climats of Montmains), the 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains offers up aromas of crisp green apple, white flowers, bee pollen and oyster shell. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, it’s taut and precise, concluding with a saline finish. Drink: 2023 - 2045 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

A domaine wine composed of <40% Butteaux plus some Forêts and Montmains proper in roughly equal amounts. An overtly floral-inflected nose displays notes of pear, apple, citrus confit and mineral reduction. There is impressive density to the rich and surprisingly powerful middleweight plus flavors that are supported by bracing lemon-tinged acidity on the more complex, long and highly refreshing finish. Good stuff and worth your interest. 90-93 points, Drink: 2027+, Burghound

From a huge 3.5 ha holding that is composed by <75% Vaillons proper with the remainder from Roncières, Mélinots and Châtains. Here too there is a vague suggestion of the exotic on the slightly riper aromas of pear compote, ocean spray, iodine and wet stone. The rich, vibrant and palate coating flavors are also supported by bright acidity that carries over to the wonderfully long, youthfully austere and firm finale. Well played my friends, well played! The 3rd 100% Verduno Barolo from Fratelli Alessandria and it’s a beauty. Take the Prinsiot, already excellent, add another couple of layers of development, greater depth of tannin & you’re through the first couple of chapters of this book. An entrancing perfume ... the roses, baking spices, savoury lines, over a foundation of fruit. Tannins flow long & fine, beautifully weighted against the complex, layered flavour profile & energising gracefu

The Fabrice Session 🎧 & 🎥 Inside!

R.Pouillon Grande Vallée Brut (2018/2019) NV

Blend | Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Avenay-Val-d'Or

The perfect introduction to Pouillon's wines, yet, far from an entry level. The gives you a peak into just how much personality and vitality his wines have. In its youth, March 2023, it needs a little warmth and air to coax out the fruit. Patience, 2-3 years will be well rewarded! Balancing a hint of oxidative character with delicious fruit with great length and depth. The Grande Vallée (previously labeled the Réserve) represents a little splash of fruit across most of Pouillon's holdings.

Joh Jos Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese Riesling 2021

Riesling | Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany

Great intensity and transparency! “The 2021er Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese is really restrained and almost non-saying at this early stage, but already hints at the complexity to come as it reveals after a few minutes very delicate notes of whipped almond cream, lily flowers, vineyard peach, minty herbs, smoke, candied grapefruit, and quite some fine spices. The wine proves creamy yet intense and dynamic on the palate. It proves very focused and already hugely long. This will need quit

Pieropan Soave ‘Calvarino’ MAGNUM 2021

White Blend | Veneto, Italy

The name 'Calvarino' translates to 'small ordeal'. Andrea Pieropan told us it was named after the hill Jesus was crucified on reflecting how difficult the soil is to work and the tortuous path which winds from top to bottom. The 2021 is the 50th Anniversary release & it is an excellent Calvarino. Vibrant and energetic with a perfume of white flowers and an excellent core of fruit. Thirst quenching. Well developed, no puppy fat here. Long and fine with a savoury twist. Chalky with a fine l

Domaine Louis Boillot Gevrey-Chambertin 2017

Pinot Noir | Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy

Cracking example of Gevrey-Chambertin. There’s a theme through Louis Boillot’s wines of harmony, and, delicacy with intensity. Cracking example of Gevrey-Chambertin. There's a theme through Louis Boillot's wines of harmony, and, delicacy with intensity. The old iron fist in the velvet glove. The reduction Meadows noted is all but gone now and the fruit is showing fine form. A lovely shape to the palate with that true to domain plush, supple tannin. A wine of great precision and expression.

Rocche showing the site with faded flowers, a build in tannins here over the Villero adds a significant structural element, the long even shape is present as in past years. Youthful tension and tannins will need time to relax. Wonderful nose of intensity with great depth, rich, brooding, it’s starting to offer quite a lot. Serious with delicacy.  Excellent line, length and balance. Red fruits, chocolate, faded flowers, savoury licks, great drive and persistence. GW: Ripe raspberry, dri
