Why is this Wine so Yummy?

?? Il Corincino “Il Bacaro” Verdicchio Dei Castelli di JesiOne of the first Italian white wines to grab my attention & was for a long time a house staple. Now it’s back! Verdicchio is a superb variety of real character. Il Corincino is one of the great producers! In the search for Italian whites of real personality, it made it back onto my radar. It’s everything I remembered. Inviting aromas, spice and perfume, that perfect balance between sweet fruit and earthy, savory goodness. Perhaps the element that makes this wine for me is the texture, silky, supple, just the right amount of extraction from the skins to give it superb mouthfeel and a silvery line of bitterness that works so well in good Italian whites to help give their wines a clean finish and make them such a great accompaniment to food.
?? Vinicola Palamà Negroamaro ‘Kalà’ 2014 – Brother to the Salice Salentino from Vinicola Palamà. The straight Negromaro is bigger & bolder. With riper fruit characters, it’s rich and spicey without being over the top. Continuing on the Pugliese theme of making wines of great value. Translating to black-bitter it is anything but bitter. Palamà has kept this wine well balanced. It’s rustic earthy and fun.
?? Vinicola Palamà Salice Salentino Rosso ‘Kalà’ 2013 – When it comes to outstanding value the wines of Puglia are right up there! Seriously smashable red! Sometimes you just need a box of red that you can grab a bottle from, enjoy with friends, and not feel like your raiding the cellar. This blend of Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera has you covered. Generous, yet not heavy, it’s loads of fun packed with spice, great core of fruit. Salice Salentino’s tend to have an extra year of age on them before release, it’s just showing a nice bit of development underneath a vibrant exterior.
?? Di Leonardo Santa Pazienza Pinot Grigio 2015 Fresh, juicy, vibrant, perfect lunch wine. Think beach, sea air, a bucket of prawns & glass of this baby! Pinot Grigio or Pinot Gris in France comes in an array of styles for Domaine Zind Humbrecht’s super textured phenolic style with a splash of sugar in it to Di Leonardo’s fresh, crisp, juicy style. Great core of fruit. Bags of fun & the perfect way to mix it up!
