A.Rodda ‘Smiths’ Beechworth Chardonnay 2017

I tasted this next to the Halliday Chardonnay winning Willow Lake from Adrian. I can see why there's only a point between them 97 vs 96. On any given day they could be scored the same or the points reversed!

Australian Chardonnay just keeps getting better and better. Today I tasted a line of OK white Burgundy then moved onto A.Rodda’s Chardonnays & BOOM! This is a superb wine, a lovely generous core of fruit with incredible peristance. Balanced by a juice line of acid. Fine texture, so pure, long and delicious.

It certainly has that ‘W’ factor that gives it the extra bit of personality.

Concentrate on the harmony and texture when you drink this!

Why is this Wine so Yummy?

Adrian has done his time and earned his stripes. He’s consistently making excellent wines, particularly his range of delicious Chardonnay’s.

96 Points

Purity combines with excellent mouthfeel and varietal fruit - this vineyard is one of Australia's best for Chardonnay. The acidity is slippery, adhering to the roof of the mouth to create a tension between the tongue and the palate.
