Oddero Langhe Nebbiolo 2020

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

A great way to introduce both Nebbiolo & Poderi Oddero to your MOUTH! Tasted this with Pietro Oddero @ WINE DECODED HQ, Nov 2022 This is not meant to be a baby Barolo, it will pants many a Barolo! As has been the case with every vintage of this wine I've drunk so far, it has a wonderful perfumed, energetic red fruits and excellent flow across the palate. One of the biggest differences between vintages tends to be the tannins and the texture. The 2020 plush and fine. Try this over a few days!

"Opening in the glass with aromas of raspberries, plums, spices and smoke, the 2021 Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Melanie is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and succulent, with a sweet core of fruit, tangy acids, powdery tannins and penetrating finish. It's one example of a 2021 that I prefer to its riper, more powerful 2020 counterpart." William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 92 Points

Girolamo Russo Etna Rosato 2022

Nerello-Mascelese | Sicily, Etna

If you didn't see the colour you might well think this was a white. Deeper inspection sees those elements that take into the territory of a refreshing Rosé! Looking good with a crisp fine acid musk and rose with a little baking spices, shape and flow, strawberries. A little woody herbs, fun wine. Line and length here my friends! The Girolamo Russo 2022 Etna Rosato reveals a floral bouquet with wildflowers, peach blossom and whiffs of zagara, or Sicilian lemon blossom. It offers subtl

"One cuvée that really doesn't miss a beat in this more challenging vintage is the 2021 Morgon Corcelette Vieilles Vignes Sable, a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy wine evocative of plums, sweet berries, spices and forest floor. Layered and concentrated, with an enveloping core of fruit and melting tannins, it will delight readers nostalgic for more classically proportioned Beaujolais." I haven't had a chance to taste these and reviews aren't out yet. Given the consistency and the comments on the vintage below from Bouland and Morris they're just a no brainer. One of the wineries I buy from each year without hesitation. Expect them to have an extra degree of sophistication compared with other recent releases. Wine specific importer notes below. Even Bouland himself struggled to find fault in his wines from what is an outstanding vintage for Beaujolais. “I’m

Fèlsina Chianti Classio DOCG ‘Beradenga’ 2021

Sangiovese | Tuscany, Castelnuovo Berardenga UGA

The Perfect intro to the Fascinating Chiantis of Fèlsina! I have to agree with Galloni, the 2021 shows a welcome level of refinement and sophistication. Dark and brooding spice with sour cherries, lovely tannins. A lot going on here. Layered, with excellent drive and energy. Fine acid. It’s the intensity with the finesse, the richness yet elegance. It seems almost a wine in two parts. Lovely shape to the palate, linear yet with some excellent mid-palate generosity. This is the perfect frie

Stefano Lubiana Pinot Noir 2019

Pinot Noir | Tasmania, Australia

Superb expression right out of the gate, whilst it will offer much much more with time. Excellent depth and length with layer after layer of flavour. The energy of the fruit is balanced with a darkness, spiced and an intriguing sappy hint. The acidity and tannin marry well offering up a fine long structure.

Excellent élévage yet so very tight. Graphite mineral thing. Long even tannins, fine vibrant red fruit fresh red cherry. Pure grape first Syrah with much more going on. Lovely shape. Longer finer feel compared with Villard’s Saint-Joseph that uses much more whole bunch. It’s a matter of preference and difference not necessarily quality between the two. More to come from both with a few years in bottle. Excellent Syrah!
