Vanguardist Grenache Mourvèdre Rosé 2022

Rosé Blend | McLaren Vale, Australia

"Pale spicy, dusty and gently earthy, fennel and pink grapefruit, redcurrant, fruit a little down low, texture up. Very zesty, a lot of pink grapefruit and bloody orange, tangy, quite bony, fine dusty texture and grip. though a gentle creaminess to it, and savoury too, lots of sappy and citrus flavours on a long finish. It seems to be built for ageing, though you can serve it now too, cool but not cold! Drink: 2024-2034" Gary Walsh TWF 94 Points

Vietti Barbera d’Asti Tre Vigne 2019

Barbera | Piedmont, Asti

Vietti's Barbera d'Asti has an excellent élévage. I first had this wine back in 1994 while studying winemaking in Adelaide. Over the decades it has become more refined. A great expression of Barbera. Those in the know will tell you that good vineyards planted to Barbera in Asti will beat the bounty of average sites that have been planted to the variety in Alba. Vietti's Barbera d'Asti has an excellent élévage. The plush, generous fruit of Barbera is matched with juicy acid that sits in a

Roches Neuves Samur-Champigny 2021

Cabernet Franc | Saumur-Champigny, D'Anjou-Saumur

Beautiful, plump yet linear fruit average 25 up to 70 years. Wild and tank only ferment. Bright lovely balance and flow. Great way to start the range. A little spice woody herb a little violets and blue fruits. A herbal note in a refreshing & very nice way. Moderate weight and length. Restrained crunchy and delicious. As per Gibb's note could easily be drunk with a couple of degrees knocked off it. “The 2021 Domaine des Roches Neuves is made in a light bodied, delicate and fragrant

Vietti Arneis 2022

Arneis | Roero, Italy

Arneis makes such beautiful wine. Morish and refreshing. A beautiful wine! Arneis makes such beautiful wine. Vietti's has a sophistication that gives restraint to the core of fruit that has great depth and length. Maple and a hint of baking spice layer on top of white nectarine and friends. Supple with just an edge of chalking phenolic grip, it has that wondeful silvery line of bitterness that cleans he palate up so well. Morish and refreshing. A beautiful wine! "... Girolamo Russo Etna Rosato 2022

Nerello-Mascelese | Sicily, Etna

If you didn't see the colour you might well think this was a white. Deeper inspection sees those elements that take into the territory of a refreshing Rosé! Looking good with a crisp fine acid musk and rose with a little baking spices, shape and flow, strawberries. A little woody herbs, fun wine. Line and length here my friends! The Girolamo Russo 2022 Etna Rosato reveals a floral bouquet with wildflowers, peach blossom and whiffs of zagara, or Sicilian lemon blossom. It offers subtl

Giovanni Rosso Langhe Nebbiolo 2021

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

Near a decaded ago Giovanni Rosso's Langhe Nebbiolo was the very first wine I tried from the estate. It enchanted then just as the 2021 impresses now! It has the hallmarks of all of Rosso's Nebbiolos: energy, balance, harmony, a caressing texture, restraint & purity. The winemaking here is considered and clever. The tannins are perfectly matched to the mid-weight core of fruit. Showing a level of complexity well beyond its classification flowers, earthiness red and darker fruits with a li

Domaine Roland Lavantureux Petit Chablis 2020

Chardonnay | France, Burgundy

“Here is the only wine that with 100% stainless-steel for all vinification and elevage. All from Lignorelles. That’s a very friendly nose – slightly round and faintly caramel despite tank elevage – an inviting sweetness. A little touch of green in the flavours but also lots of energy and citrus bitters. Very engaging, tasty wine. Long too.” Bill Nanson

Vietti ‘Perbacco’ Langhe Nebbiolo 2020

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

Two of the best value Neb's on the market have to be Vietti's Castiglione Barolo and this wine Vietti's Perbacco! The 2020 Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco is another terrific entry-level wine from Vietti. In this vintage, the Perbacco is especially fine. Sweet dried cherry, herbs, mint, crushed flowers, anise and orange peel grace this striking, alluring Nebbiolo. There's tons of depth and sheer pedigree, things that have not always been present in recent editions. For years, Perbacco was a very seriou

Galloni's interpretation intrigues. The knowledge of the Monforte component in the blend partially explains the bold nature of the tannins. I suspect there are pressings from the Cru Barolos in here. It will require a little patience to unfurl, relax and show its full potential. All of the components are there. Time will see them dial into the right levels, the superb core of fruit develop and the tannins soften. Aromas of grape marc, earthiness, and a little spice wraps dark & brood

Pentecostés Varietales 2022

White Blend | Spain, Condado do Tea

Great drinking to be had here! Complexed by savoury and earthy layers with a little baking spice & hint of soft green herb. Textural with fine phenolics adding a caressing flow countered by a chalky play. Loads of fun. Laced with an elegant background funk over a delicate, transparent fruit core of depth & length. Thirst quenching, super fine acid. The slightly warmer climate of Condado do Tea allows plantings of varieties other than Albariño to thrive. Varietales is a b

Looking good! Fresh, style with a nice phenolic grip and cleansing astringency with crunchy mineral acid. Spiced pear and quince with citrus rind and fresh marmalade are balanced by silvery almond lining. Building generosity in the glass. Give this a year in bottle to settle a little and drink over 5 years.

Showing exactly how important vine age is! A step up, an extra zip of salty acid and that mid palate weight with excellent length. Florals, white stone fruit a little citrus pith and plenty of fun. That slight primary edge that disappeared as it opened revealing excellent depth and length with restraint. A little more complexity. Mid palate texture is excellent. Hazelnuts and an extra layer of pleasure here. Excellent.

Domaine Testut Chablis Vielles Vignes 2019

Chardonnay | France, Burgundy

The pedigree of this fruit at the Chablis level is pretty bloody good! It's from a 50 year old parcel adjacent to the Grand Cru, Blanchot! Bloody tasty Village. Beautifully weighted and developed. Often at this level Chablis can be thin and raw. Testut here, as with all his wines shows a deft touch in raise the wine and building generosity. A wine that can be hoovered now, it’ll drink well over the next few years. Great flow across your palate, fine, sophisticated, perfect everyday drinking
