Roccolo Grassi Valpolicella Superiore 2016

Red Blend | Veneto, Italy

This is exceptional! Balanced, fresh and dry. The development and layering are very good. Epic complexity, a translucence yet depth of flavour. Earthy, savoury, intriguing. In a world where Valpol’s are often sweet up front almost primary in fruit character this has built-in personality and excellent mouthfeel with fine long tannins combined with acid tension and freshness. Divine flow and shape. Woody herbs around the edges. I'd have to say this is one of the most enjoyable Valpolicella Su

A wine of great stylistic precision and harmony. The controlled drying of the harvested grapes which lasts for a hundred days produces the great aromatic intensity of dark fruit and undergrowth that we find in this Amarone 2017. The impact on the palate is powerful and vigorous and then the wine gradually tapers through the […]

Incredible depth and layering of flavour. While it has the richness and intensity of Amarone it doesn’t have any jammy or sweet notes of lesser Amarone. Beautifully dry with fine acid tension, married to a dusting of equally fine tannins and a lucious fruit feel with a good hit of glycerol at play. Great intrigue, brooding, draws you in. Violets, blood orange, dried citrus peel on a core of dark fruits & chocolate. As it opens in the glass it comes together & alcohol falls into place.

Rose /Spicy and dark plums on the nose. The palate is fresh with well-defined mineral and fruit characteristics and a layer of sweet spice. The intensity of this wine reflects the year and is incredibly well-balanced and supported by good acidity. The tannins are silky and the wine is focused and precise. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella

Giuseppe Quintarelli Rosso di Bepi 2016

Red Blend | Veneto, Valpolicella

It's no surprise that Giuseppe is considered the Maestro. Only Quintarelli would declassify a wine like this, the difference between Amarone and Rosso is a very fine line here. Exotic nose of sweet spice potpourri, dried and fresh red fruit notes . The palate is powerful and rich with crushed bitter chocolate notes, dark red fruit, and a pomegranate /orange peel note . A fine mineral and tannin line gives the wine structure and even though this is a big wine, it is always elegant. Grapes
