Hidden amongst the behemoth marketing powerhouses of Champagne there a number of smaller houses producing exceptional Fizz. Fourny is one of those! They have great sites, vine age, invest where it matters in the vineyards and the winery, and, focus on making wines of precision. End result is a spectacular Blanc de Blanc, 100% Chardonnay that has both and incredible intensity of flavour and juicy acidity. Filthy Good Vino!

Stepping up from the Bourgogne level wines in a big way. Building tension length and depth. Again excellent composure, tighter now as it should be. Give this 12 months and you’ll be in a very happy place. Entrancing nice white flowers on grapefruit. A little more energy. Excellent texture, chalky phenolic acid complex that works brilliantly. An edge of grapefruit esque bitterness. A wonderful fine example. The mid-palate depth is the thing that demonstrates the step up in quality here.

The name of this appellation comes from Mont de Lieu which marks the border between Burgundy and Champagne, illustrated by a marker stone dividing the two duchies which can be found on its summit. With a double exposure moving from south to southeast facing, this terroir benefits from a higher average temperature and more sunshine than the other Premiers Crus.
