#30 – James Suckling Top 100 under $30 for 2018
Franco’s never been one for super lean Chardonnay’s. He loves Chardonnay with flavour. The 2017 has generosity, purity and juicy natural acid. A complex array of different citrus fruits, with pithy goodness works beautifully. A little nutty, funky, solids layer in. It’s great to see it on the market with a year of bottle age. So together with a texture that caresses your tongue.
PS .. It scored a Gold in Halliday’s Chardy Challenge too!
Once you’ve got your laughing gear around this bad boy you’ll be gagging to try Franco D’Anna’s other next level Chardonnay’s, the 1’er and Syberia (the vineyard is bloody steep & cool, a calf buster).
We’ve scored a couple of dozen 2015 & 2017 1er Chardonnay too. Grab yourself a mini vertical of two great years!

The 2017 vintage in the Yarra Valley will go down as one of the classics. A long season, with enough rainfall to support growth without the need for irrigation. Franco D’Anna
A super cool vintage with no new oak and smells of cool lemons and white peaches. The palate is succulent and pithy with a very long chord-like serving of white peaches and a taut acid line. Dripping with concentration. Drink or hold.
