Showing what Tassie is capable of. Refined, elegant, perfumed, wicked tannins!

Description

Serious sophistication to this wine. Perfume, violets, musk and red cherries lift from the glass, fine long tannins match delicate fruits. Balanced and harmonious. It’s still a pup and will evolve beautifully of the next couple of years.

Why is this Wine so Yummy?

With 20+ years of winemaking experience, Jim Chatto is also a senior wine show judge with over 18 years of experience across both regional and capital city shows and is currently the Chairman of Judges for the National Wine Show of Australia.

In 1998 Jim moved to Tasmania as the inaugural winemaker for Rosevears Estate in the Tamar Valley. He fell in love with Tasmanian Pinot Noir, and a Tasmanian.

In 2000 Jim and Daisy left Tasmania for the Hunter Valley but began the Chatto label to continue the affair with Tasmanian Pinot Noir.

We then spent the next six years searching for the perfect vineyard site. Isle vineyard is located in Huon Valley at Glaziers Bay. Warm, well-drained but in a very cool region, right on the edge of viticultural possibility. Planting began in 2007 and our first vintage (2012) was released in 2013.

97 Points

The bouquet is still locked up, the palate anything but: intensely and immediately expressive, dark cherry/berry fruits held in an embrace of fine but persistent tannins and an airbrush of French oak. It's balance and length guarantee a long future with spices bursting through.

94 Points

Chatto and his home vineyard down in the Deep South of Tasmania are killing it right now.

The wines being grown on this vineyard are remarkable. A long and storied history looks likely; we’re getting in on the ground floor. This adds a chalkiness to the foresty fruit, the warm spice, the florals here peppered with scrunched dry leaves. It matches presence to persistence; it places every step as firmly as it does carefully. Time will bring yet greater charm.
