“The second vintage vinified in the Caze family’s new winery, the 2021 Lynch-Bages unwinds in the glass with aromas of minty cassis, sweet berries, loamy soil, black truffle and cigar wrapper, framed by nicely integrated new oak. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and muscular, it’s a serious, layered, powerful, youthfully structured wine that will come together beautifully with maturation in barrel.”

Situated on the outskirts of Pauillac, overlooking the Gironde estuary, the Lynch-Bages vineyard (1855 Grand Cru Classé) stretches over the Bages plateau, one of the commune’s most beautiful gravelly hilltops.
Formerly owned by the illustrious Lynch family, of Irish descent, the estate was purchased in 1939 by Jean-Charles Cazes. In a building that dates back to the end of the 16th century, you will find the old
Lynch-Bages fermentation cellar, originally set up in the 1850s and one of the few pieces of former winery equipment still intact. Its visitors find themselves stepping back in time.
Marrying the worlds of wine and culture, the Cazes family has positioned Lynch-Bages at the core of an “art de vivre” epitomised today both at the Cordeillan-Bages Relais & Châteaux hotel and in the village of Bages
In 2006, Jean-Michel Cazes handed the reins over to his son
Jean-Charles, who is driven by the same high standards, and the
Lynch-Bages wines have continued to reflect their generosity and excellence.
In 2017, the Lynch-Bages château will be embarking on a new chapter in its history, with the renovation of its wine-making facilities. For several years, substantive work has concentrated on improving knowledge of the vineyard, studying its soils, introducing mass selection, analysing plots, and so on. Today’s project to renovate the estate’s technical facilities, entrusted to American architect Chien Chung Pei, marks the next logical step.
Lynch-Bages is in the Left Bank of Bordeaux in Pauillac.
