Shiraz/Syrah from Australia
$108.50
For the 2nd year running Shiraz is fermenting in the Wine Decoded Tiny Winery. We thought it only appropriate to celebrate with some great Aussie Shiraz. Hard to pass up Tim Kirk's Clonakilla's, add to that, new up and comers Luke Lambert and Stu Proud and you've got a great selection of Shiraz Murrambatemen in Canberra and the Yarra Valley!

The wines of Clonakilla have unfortunately garnered critical acclaim world wide. I say unfortunately, as by default it means they will continue to become harder for us to get. The fact that 2015 is the birth year for my second daughter gives me an excuse to stash a few extra bottles in the cellar. I think that’s a win for everyone.
It’s rare to find a wine with such poise and harmony.
Clonakilla’s Hilltop’s Shiraz is a superb wine. The level of sophistication for a wine under $30 is extreme. It’s really the perfect stepping stone to the Shiraz Viognier.
Lukes Yarra Valley Shiraz is a cracker. Richness, spice, deep dark fruit, brought together with some whole bunch action. Like all good wines it comes from a great cool site in the valley. Restraint in oak use allows the fruit to express itself fully. Hang onto it for a few years and you’ll be well rewarded!
Luke is now working on collaborative projects with the French Master from Crozes-Hermitage, Alain Graillot. They’re definitely singing from the same song book. This wine has layers and layers of complex flavours, the oppulence is tamed by the clever tannin use.
Sometimes known as The Bovine Syrah this fruit is from the same vineyard the Wine Decoded Bathtub Winemaking Project comes and is tended by Stuart Proud.
The 2015 Syrah is inky dark in colour, lovely tannins, spice and a real vibrancy of fruit aroma and flavour. It’s a deceptive wine. It’s elegance and finesse somehow wrangles a core of fruit with great depth and length. I little magic I’ve seen in many of the great wines I’ve drunk from around the world.
