I had Faiveley's 2015 Latricières Chambertin recently, delicious, perfumed elegant and refined. Along with the 2015, I devoured a brace of 2016's from across the appellations. They are really stepping up their game, the investments in the vineyard and winery are a testament to this. Combining the impacts of climate change, incredible effort in the vineyard, and Faiveley's continued push in the winery we've seen exceptional wines coming from Beaune, Mercurey and beyond. “Aromas of sweet berry fruit, warm spices, forest floor and raw cocoa preface the 2019 Beaune Les Epenottes, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and structured wine that's quite tightly wound, with fine concentration, lively acids and ripe tannins that assert themselves on the finish. This will require a bit of patience, but its track record for aging with grace is excellent.” William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 90+ Points JM 90-92

This too is quite ripe (though not roasted) with its nose of plum, cassis and a similar note of mocha. Once again there is a lovely sense of verve to the sappy and rich medium-bodied flavors that possess a slightly finer texture while delivering excellent length on the balanced and somewhat firmer finale. Lovely. Allen Meadows, Burghound 90-93 Points ♥ Outstanding

"An overtly floral and spice-suffused nose is a bit more deeply pitched with mostly notes of poached plum and black cherry liqueur. There is better vibrancy to the precise and attractively textured medium-bodied flavors that display fine length on the dusty, even chalky, and youthfully austere finish that is notably firmer. Fine quality here." Allen Meadows, Burghound 90-92 Points

Aromas of spiced plum, black cherry and a touch of warm earth are trimmed in admirably subtle wood nuances. The super-sleek, intense and wonderfully energetic medium weight flavors possess fine length on the more overtly structured finale. This is both a bigger and more powerful wine than the Teurons that could use better depth but the given that the aging curve of the '19 Mousse should be extended, more complexity should almost certainly develop in due course. Vincent Dancer Beaune ‘1er Les Montrevenots’ 2020

Pinot Noir | Côte du Beaune, Beaune

This vineyard sits high on the edge of Pommard above Clos des Mouches. It’s a south-facing, cool, rocky slope and Dancer’s parcel was planted in 1996. The white clay and rocky soils here brings this red more lift and structure. It's well worth exploring Vincent's website, a photo blog, that captures the life of a vigneron.

Leroux has been working with a grower here since 2015. Convinced of the quality, he purchased the 0.5-hectare plot in 2021, so from next year’s release, this will be a domaine-owned bottling. The plot, on Cent-Vignes’ brown grèze litée gravels, is planted to two parcels. There’s a section of 50-year-old vines, as well as a young plot planted in 2016. Les Cent-Vignes is one of the first vineyards you encounter if you’re heading west out of Beaune. Leroux is delighted to be working in

Leroux owns two parcels of vines in Meursault-Blagny’s highest 1er Cru, La Pièce Sous Le Bois. The first is 0.44 hectares of Chardonnay planted in 1953. The second is planted to Pinot and therefore must be labelled as Blagny La Pièce Sous Le Bois (only whites from Blagny can be labelled as Meursault or Puligny, subject to their precise location). Leroux has long beaten the drum for this limestone-rich, high-altitude terroir, firstly for its whites, and even more so for its underappreciate

An ultra-floral inflected nose speaks of spicy dark berry fruit aromas laced with hints of earth, game and again, a smoky hint. The sleek, intense and beautifully refined larger-scaled flavors possess a beguiling texture while exuding a bracing salinity on the firm, youthfully austere and well-balanced finale. This too needs better depth, but more should develop if it's allowed at least 6 to 8 years of cellar time. Drink 2032+ Allen Meadows, Burghound 91-94 Points

This one of the more floral-suffused wines in the range with its hints of violet, rose petal and lavender that add touch of elegance to the very ripe poached plum scents that presently lack a bit of freshness. There is verve and freshness on the palate of the dense, voluminous and punchy flavors that coat the palate with dry extract that also serves to buffer the firm tannins shaping the powerful, serious and mildly warm finale. Note that my predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt that t

Weber noted that they protected the vines with warming pots that allowed for a yield of about 22 hl/ha. More obvious oak influence stops short of fighting with the spicy and earthy purple fruit-scented nose. There is notably more density, power and volume to the bigger-bodied flavors that possess a seductive mouthfeel that contrasts somewhat with the robust but not rustic finale that delivers markedly better depth and persistence. 2029+ Sweet spot Outstanding ♥ Allen Meadows, Burghound 91-9
